Draw a room in 1 point perspective

Drawing a room is a lot easier than you think if you use the simple rules of one-point perspective.

If you've never drawn a 1pt perspective room before, watch the video through first to get an understanding of the steps.

1. Start with drawing a rectangle. This will be the back wall of your room.

2. Put a dot in the center on this wall. This is the Vanishing Point (VP).

3. Connect the VP to the outside corners of the rectangle (using the ruler!), draw straight lines to the edge of the paper. You have now created the two side walls, ceiling, and floor.

4. Start adding decorations and details to your room.

- If it is something on the backwall, it does not need to go to the VP.

- If it is on the floor or ceiling, the left and right edges need to go the VP and the top and bottom need to be straight horizontal lines, parallel to the top and bottom of your first rectangle.

- If it is on the left or right wall, the top and bottom edges need to go to the VP and the left and right edges need to be straight vertical lines, parallel to the left and right lines of your first rectangle.

What you'll need:

Paper, pencil, ruler (or straight edge)
