Paint a galaxy

This is a fun watercolor activity and you can't really go wrong. It utilizes the wet on wet watercolor technique where the colors blend and run into each other.

Watch the tutorial below for some tips and pointers, but make it your own. I have added several different inspiration photos - it doesn't have to be just blue and black.

I love adding silhouettes of trees or mountains to my galaxy paintings because it tends to ground the piece. If you don't do this, it will give the painting a look as if the viewer is looking straight up into the night's sky which is also very cool.

Be very very careful when you are adding your stars. Make sure you have a clear area and are flicking downward or gently tapping the handle of your paintbrush. Make sure to clean up after yourself!

Finish up by adding details with a white gel pen.

What you'll need:

Watercolor paper, watercolor paint, paintbrush, water, tape

watered down white paint & white gel pen
