Create scratch art
Scratch paper is a fun way to make a beautiful work of art.
The reason scratch art looks so eye-catching is that it has high contrast. Contrast, one of the principles of design, is the juxtaposition of two opposite elements. Scratch-art contrasts the dark color of the top layer with the bright vibrant colors underneath.

Watch the tutorial below to learn how to create your own scratch art piece. You want to create a piece that really utilizes the contrast, so you do not want to go through the process to make scratch paper just to do something simple. Come up with a line drawing with lots of detail. For example, don't just draw your name, rather write it in bubble or block letters.
*You will need to use tempera paint, acrylic paint will stick to the paper and create a more permanent covering.
What you'll need:
paper, oil pastels or crayons, dish soap, black tempera paint, toothpick, thumbtack, or paper clip
