Paint some cacti

Cacti and succulents are so fun to paint because you can really utilize both the wet on wet and wet on dry techniques.

Remember if you are painting wet on wet, it will cause the paint to run and blend into each other. If you do not want the paint to blend, wait until the paper is dry.

Watercolor is all about painting in layers. You want to paint the base layers, wait for that to dry and then paint on top. Slowly building darker and darker layers. If you are painting a background, make sure your cactus is completely dry before you do or else it will bleed into your painted background.

What you'll need:

watercolor paper, watercolor paint, water, paintbrush, pencil

*optional colored pencils

Practice watercolor techniques by painting a cactus.

After you are finished you can add details on top with colored pencils.
