Create a cardboard relief building
I have lots of Amazon boxes at my house, maybe you do too? You can use all of that cardboard to create a piece of art.
A sculpture is a three-dimensional work of art, and it can either be a sculpture in the round or a relief sculpture. Sculptures in the round are meant to be viewed from all sides, while a relief sculpture is only meant to be viewed from one side. You can easily remember this because you're so "relieved" you didn't have to walk all the way around the sculpture.
For this project first, search for and lookup an architectural photo you want to use to work from. You can search famous architecture in history, a place you've seen on vacation, or even your house from google street view.
Use a large sturdy piece of cardboard for your back. Then begin drawing shapes in other pieces of cardboard to layer on top. Using different thicknesses of cardboard will add to the variety and create interest in your artwork. Plus thinner pieces may be easier to manage - look for cardboard cereal, toothpaste or mac n cheese boxes!
What you'll need:
reference architectural photo, cardboard, scissors, glue
*optional: toothpicks, popsicle sticks
Make sure to leave your sculpture flat on the base/background while you are building. You want to use a lot of glue and make sure it's completely dry before lifting up. (I would let the glue dry overnight for the best hold.)
Create an architectural sculpture!
