To create a collage, start with a very simple line drawing. You will need to look at a dog reference photo in order to do this. Don't worry about drawing the dog in lots of details, rather look at the photo and break it down into simple shapes. Look for different values - where are there light sections, and dark sections etc.

Draw these shapes out on your papers and begin assembling them together. I prefer to water down my glue a little, put it in a small cup and apply it with a paintbrush. This gives me a lot more control.

You can make patterned papers yourself using several of the other activities to show you how to do that (37, 38, 39, 40 & 41). You can also look around your house for papers. Magazines, the back of old homework (that you no longer need!), newspaper, gift wrap, and even the inside of business envelopes are all places to find papers for your collage!
